VALORANT Playing Cards Design
Role
Graphic Designer
Purpose
As a student who enjoys both card/board and video games, I created a 54-paying card deck inspired by Riot Games’ video game VALORANT. Utilizing VALORANT’s in-game symbols, characters, and aesthetics, the illustration on these cards tangibly expose what is seen when playing the video game itself. I brought VALORANT's video game aesthetic into the real world through product design.

Stylistic Choices
VALORANT is known for its clean and geometric art style. Taking on the stylistic choices seen in VALORANT's graphics, I chose to bring the same design into my playing cards. I took inspiration from the modern designs of playing cards seen on the right.
Card Designs
Switching the four suits (clubs, diamonds, hearts, and spades) into the four types of agents (duelist, initiator, sentinel, and controller) in VALORANT, I designed each face card to be an agent based on the suits' category. The kings, queens, and jacks are simplified versions of the character in VALORANT.
In VALORANT, the 5v5 format creates two teams: defending and attacking. VALORANT visually separates the two teams with the colors green and red. Similar to how the original playing card deck design has the colors black and red, I chose my deck to have the VALORANT colors: green and red.

Box Designs
Bringing in VALORANT's clean and geometric art style into the card back design, I did the same in the box design to keep the design's consistency.
I brought in shapes and symbols seen in-game to combine the VALORANT aesthetic with geometric and traditional card designs.
