Matcharista: Matcha-Making Game

What is this game?
During the summer after my UC Berkeley junior year, my friend Harley and I decided to work together to produce an indie game, combining our love for matcha lattes and late-night gaming. As Harley took on the logistics of coding the game in Unity, I took on the creative aspects of deciding the art-style and design of our game.

Understanding the Player Flow
If you are a frequent at-home matcha barista, the steps of our game should be very familiar as they mimic the steps of making a matcha latte at home!

Low-Fi Game Mockup
After agreeing on making our game first available on desktop, I created a low-fi design of the main screen the player will interact with when making drink orders.

To create a playful and cozy environment for our matcha game, this is the design system I settled on!

At this stage, we finalized the overall look and style of the game. Although the project is still ongoing alongside our Fall 2025 Senior Semester, Harley and I plan to continue slowly developing our game further!

First Game Demo!
This is our first published game demo using Unity :D

How to Matcharista:

Read the top right receipt to view your order
Move matcha bowl to first workstation
Add needed matcha powder into bowl
Pour hot water into bowl, then whisk away
Move needed cup to second workstation
1. tall cup: add ice + needed milk
2. tea cup: add milk + warm up in microwave
Pour whisked matcha into your cup
Place finished drink in far right counter + ring to serve

Remember:

Move left and right across the counter using your mouse or scroll wheel
Rinse your bowl before starting a new order
Discard any items in the sink
Progress does not save, so do not refresh
Please play on desktop for the best experience
